Podia vs Teachable: The judgement criteria

Can you build a real community?

The biggest roadblock you’ll face with communities platforms like Teachable is that they aren’t the best at building communities. Although online courses are great for both students and educators, this one-dimensional relationship with your members isn’t enough. To scale your business, you need to build a community of people who can actually interact with each other instead of merely consuming your content.

Podia was initially launched without a community feature, but they eventually introduced it later on. The concept behind Podia is very similar to forums. Members are given a variety of topics, and they can create posts under each. They can also upload videos in each post. While Teachable is geared toward hosting online courses, Podia does a little bit of everything.

    Is it worth the money?

At $29/month, Teachable’s basic plan is a little cheaper than Podia’s. However, Teachable has a transaction fee of 5%. This means once you start making sales, the cost of your plan is going to increase exponentially. If you want to include additional features, you’ll have to pay for its intermediate ($119/month) or professional plan ($299/month).

To sign up on Podia, you don’t need to provide your credit card details. It comes with three different membership plans, including -
    > Mover ($39/month)
    > Shaker ($89/month)
    > Earthquaker ($199/month)

    How’s the member experience?

With Podia, you can put barriers on your content and charge a fee to members if they want to access it. It also gives you the option to provide exclusive benefits – exclusive podcast episodes, e-books, free shipping of merch – to members with top tier access.

Conversely, Teachable is built solely for online courses. So it doesn’t offer in-depth community engagement features like tiered membership access.

With Graphy Community, you get...

The difference is in our DNA

We're content creators, teachers AND community builders.

And, we know how everything ties together to make a business.

We've been teaching online since 2018. We ran one of the world's largest educational communities from 2019-2021 and scaled to $500,000 revenue by selling cohort-based courses. We kept hopping from one software to another because the experience of actually using all available software is bad.

This led us to build Graphy Community Platform - an all-in-one platform to run your courses, cohorts, webinars, events, voice chat rooms, etc. - on mobile & web (100% white-labeled).

Your branded online community on any device.
